I recently got an issue from EGM talking about Skate 2, 2 pages with a lot of new features coming. Well Black Box don’t state any info about the content in the next sequel. No word on the mission structure, multi player, or video-editor changes, they pointed out though the “fixes” from the old game and setup for Skate 2’s narrative/ In Skate 2 Five years has passed in Skate’s San Vanelona, which has suffered for the skaters, has been partially rebuilt, and became “a less friendly place for skaters.” Black Box wouldn’t explain exactly to EGM what that means.

The development team has expanded the move set. You can now perform hippie jumps and foot plants. Hippie Jumps letting the board go underneath the rail, while you jump over it and land back on. Also you can pull off hand plants, by grabbing the top edges of skate able bowl surfaces. Skate 2 lets you double you hand full of tricks by doing grind grab and other variations.

The biggest change in navigation is now being able to get off your board! Stepping up to curbs is no longer a trying ordeal when you lack momentum, and being able to easily ascend of  stairs makes a quite difference. To further take advantage of being off your board. You can also use Grab the World button which is one the right bumber of your controller which is also used for hand plants. With “Grab the World” you are able to drag movable pieces such as benches, mailboxes, or anything else that isn’t too heavy or otherwise bolted to the ground. The main change in Skate 2 is freedom.

If Black box can deliver on these initial ideas and top it off with a little something extra, they may have something truly gnarly of their hands. Pics from magazine at the bottom.
