Safari 4 Beta vs. Firefox

Apple released Safari 4 Beta to the public, I quickly downloaded, installed and restarted my Mac Pro, this application runs very fast. I wanted to see how fast it really is hence I ran a Benchmark test provided by SunSpider.

Here are some results from the Benchmark results SunSpider.

Safari 4 Beta: 903.8ms +/- 3.4%
Firefox 3: 2634.4ms +/- 1.7%

The amazing browser uses the latest W3C standards such as HTML5 and CSS3, and uses the Nitro JavaScript engine which makes it run about 4.5times faster than Firefox 3.

The only think lacking would be the ability to add extensions and add-ons like firefox supports. If safari had these abilities I wouldn’t need firefox.

Hulu pulls content off of Boxee

In the latest news Hulu asked Boxee to remove their content off their Media Application, Official response from Hulu

“Two weeks ago Hulu called and told us their content partners were asking them to remove Hulu from Boxee,” Boxee said in the post. “We tried (many times) to plead the case for keeping Hulu on Boxee, but on Friday of this week, in good faith, we will be removing it. You can see their blog post about the issues they are facing.”

Hulu, the video site formed by NBC Universal and News Corp., said in a note on its blog that the problem rest with their content partners.

“Our content providers requested that we turn off access to our content via the Boxee product,” Hulu wrote. “We are respecting their wishes.”

Boxee CEO Avner Ronen told CNET News that he was disappointed by the decision and attempted to convince Hulu executives that Boxee was good for the video site and its content partners.

“I hope that they will realize the opportunity is greater than the threat,” Ronen said

What exactly that threat is was unknown to Ronen and Hulu didn’t spell out the reason its content partners were down on Boxee in its blog post.

Hulu’s decision to leave, owned by CBS (parent company of CNET News), is unrelated to the decision to pull out of Boxee, said a source familiar with the negotiations. Hulu said that in the case of, it was a contractual issue. As for Boxee, Hulu was forced to honor the request of its content providers, the source said.

Here is what I think is going to happen on the new iPhone:

  1. better camera (with faces) possibly an auto-focus
  2. video recording at at least 480p or 720p (its’ possible with a 4mp lense
  3. better battery life
  4. 32GB space
  5. snow-leopard based OS
  6. faster graphics and cpu Continue reading “iPhone 2,1 Gen:3”
