How To: Boot Your Retail Snow Leopard Disk
How To: Boot From Snow Leopard Disc
1. Download the Latest “TeknoJunkie Snow Leopard Package” From Here
2. Burn “RETAIL.iso” to a blank CD
3. Boot from the RETAIL.iso
4.When the bootloader ask you for rescan, press ENTER.
5. Go to boot options (f8)
6 Swap the disc with the Snow Leopard Disk
7. Then press ESC to rescan drive. When the name of the DVD appears, press ENTER.
8. It should now be booting from the drive.
9. If you want to add more kext to this CD, you need edited the initrd.dmg of this ISO

I keep getting “you need to restart your computer” message

Great work!! I was able to boot the retail disc by following the instructions above. But alas! Snow Leopard would not install on my HP Lappy … it hangs when trying to install the audio driver…
“You need to shut down your computer by holding power button….” came out when boot by snow leopard DL DVD.
My PC: Intel DP965LT mainboard, sata DVD-RW, Geforce Nvdia 7600GS, 4GB RAM.

installing works fine but my leopard efi string is not working,
Soundcard is seen in system profiler but not available to use.
When spotlight starts indexing kernel panic

Can’t find the retail.iso file. Not even in Snow Leopard Package 1.0.1 in Snow Files as suggested in your reaction to John.
What do I do wrong? Please help me to locate this retail.iso

However it does nit include Snow File>DVD Method>Retail.iso as you say…

hmm, at step 7 The thing exits and tries to boot from the hard drive, wonder if ESC on this mobo is a soft reboot?
If I could get a rescan it would hopefully work.
The “Recommended” Bootloader is not installable from Snowleopard to a attached USB drive. However v1 is working !
I get a bad checksum from the iso burn when i try to boot the disk. any thoughts?
I get to step 8, But then the Computer just Reboots, It’s an AMD, Could that be why?
I’m trying to open both snowfiles.dmgs and neither will open in poweriso or ultraiso. Iw there a different program I should be using to open these?
Hmm… I get a bad checksum from the iso burn when i try to boot the disk too…
I used TransMac to pull out the iso, then used ultraiso to convert it to bin/cue and burned that. Boots fine now.

I got it to boot off the Snow Leopard DVD, but it say’s “Panic” and tells me to reboot in 4 languages. Is that normal? Dell Mini 9
Hello and thanks for the good work. As it is, I am an unhappy EFI-X customer, and such a newbi on writing in plist editors ect. Totaly helpless. Is there a chance to find a complete loader for my machine? Below is my hardware:

when I boot from retail.iso it boots fine but pop out the cd to put in the snow leopard it just freezes Please help!!!
Ok never mind my last comment I figured it out but now I have new problem it reads the installation disk but once I click on mac os x installation disk it displays apple logo for a second then it displays kernel panic please help!!!

i use chameleon rc3 and burn it into cd
always kernel panic
i use boot option -v -f -x cpus=1 arch=i386
i use original snow leopard from apple store

I have both Snow Leopard and Leopard ORIGINAL DL Discs.
On my AMD computer it goes not go past the apple logo
On my Intel computer it gives me a Kernel Panic.
Any suggestions?
i have a dmg file i downloaded from the net for installing snow leopard and presently i run windows…..can u help me to create a bootable dvd-dl disk for installing it without a pre-installed leopard …… plz help!!!!
